Margaret "Margie" Ann
Ward
February 20, 1947 – March 17, 2026
Margaret “Margie” Ward, of Omaha, Nebraska, was born and raised in Omaha and lived there for most of her life. After her marriage, she and her husband spent a brief time living in San Diego, California, before returning home to Omaha.
Margie devoted more than three decades to her career at Mutual of Omaha, where she built a distinguished professional life and retired as a Senior Business Analyst.
Margie’s generous spirit and loving heart defined her life as a devoted mother and grandmother. She welcomed people from all walks of life with kindness and acceptance and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Known for her warm sense of humor and her ability to find joy in life’s simplest moments, Margie also possessed a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, turning everything from crafting projects to carnival booths into imaginative ventures.
Margie loved food of all kinds and was always eager to try something new. Lobster was her favorite, though she could enjoy something as simple as tuna just as much. She delighted in “doctoring” recipes—sometimes with great success and sometimes less so—but always with enthusiasm and good humor. Margie especially loved the holidays and took great care to make them special, always having a thoughtful plan in place.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Virginia Casey, and her brother, Michael Casey.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Kiger; her sisters, Kathleen Casey and Martie Nelsen; her brother, Robert Casey; and her sister-in-law, Sara Casey. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Samantha Kiger, Anthony Kiger, and Jamie Kiger. as well as many nieces and nephews, including Chris Nelsen, Jeff Nelsen, Amanda Zahm, Ann Marie Lindig, Patrick Casey, Becky Despajado, Vinnie Angeles, Suzette Aguilar, Jeannie Kozie, Patty Hoffman, Ronnie Barrios, Robby Casey, Jessica Risher, and Emmett Zahm, along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.
May she find rest and peace beyond this life, and may her love remain with us always until we are reunited again.
