Lyle Regennitter, 77, of Bennington, Nebraska, passed peacefully on June 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Born on April 4, 1949, in Murdo, South Dakota, he carried a deep love for his home state throughout his life.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and then earned his bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State University and dedicated 38 years of his career to Farm Credit Services of America as an appraiser. He was known as a humble, hardworking, and wise man who led by example and earned the respect of everyone who knew him. His faith remained important to him throughout his life.
Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors, especially in South Dakota. One of the greatest expressions of his love was through his talented woodworking, including handcrafted bedroom sets for each of his three daughters - gifts that will forever be cherished.
He will be remembered for his quiet strength, steady presence, wisdom, and deep love for his family. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonita; daughters, Jenna (Kaden) Henry, Heidi (James) Ward, and Becky Miller; beloved grandchildren Jonah (Jessica), Taytem, Cade, Ava, Sky, Beckham, Noah, Abel, and Jude; one great-grandchild, Sofía; sister, Eileen Stolley; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances (Kotz) and Ralph Regennitter, and his brother, Rich Regennitter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elkhorn. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Memorials are kindly suggested to CurePSP.
