Lyle E. Bauer

Lyle Edward Bauer was born in Charles City, IA to Edward and Maxine Bauer on May 5, 1939. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1961 where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering honorary. He married Freda Ann Stoops on December 30, 1961 in Grimes, IA. Lyle proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1961-1968. With a career spanning 45+ years as a mechanical engineer and project manager, he worked for Northern Natural Gas (eventually becoming Internorth), and Modern Supply Inc. Lyle joined Tenaska International in 1993 as a Vice President and finished his career leading projects including a cogeneration plant in Pakistan and a large hydroelectric plant in the Andes mountains near La Paz, Bolivia. Lyle’s passion for his work was second to his love of his wife and family. He shared his life-long love of nature and the outdoors with his family, friends, and countless other young people as a coach, Boy Scout Leader, northern Minnesota canoe guide, and a hunter. He and his wife were also passionate fans of women’s athletics. He was an active member of Rejoice! Lutheran Church and lived his life with integrity, honesty and a deep faith in God.

The family of Lyle wishes to extend our sincere thanks to his wonderful friends and family all over the world, the caregivers and medical team at Bergan Mercy Medical Center, and our Lord who has comforted and led us through Lyle’s final journey.
