Loren K. Ellis

Loren Kenneth Ellis, age 77 of Gretna, NE, born June 16^th, 1946, passed away on August 1^st, 2023, after a 3-year battle with Advanced MSD Cancer.

Loren was born in Frankfurt, Germany to Kenneth, a World War II veteran and Hedy, a Polish immigrant, he was the oldest of 4 children. Loren also lived in Austria, Japan, and Greece before settling in the United States. Loren married early and had one son, Tim. He later had a daughter Tiffany, who was the apple of his eye. Loren became a Master Optician and moved to Omaha, Ne for employment. His employers found Loren had a great work ethic and incredible drive, so they gave him his own optical store to run.  His employers were so impressed with his sales skills they decided to have Loren go out on the road to sell their optical lens lines. Loren was very successful and won many sales awards.  While making a sales call to one of his accounts Loren met Susie. Susie had two girls of her own, Traci and Jill. Loren fell in love with Susie, you see, Loren finally met his match (if you knew Loren well, you know what that means). Susie helped Loren become a more caring and compassionate person and they married March 27, 1993, in Columbus, NE. Loren raised Traci and Jill as his own and loved them with the same love he showed Tim and Tiffany. Loren continued his career for a few different companies over the next four decades, which took them to Loveland, CO in 2008. Following their now adult children’s lead, Loren and Susie moved to Gretna, NE to be closer to family which now included all of their grandchildren. After a short retirement, Loren’s love of bow hunting led him to the perfect part time position of archery bow tech at the Omaha Scheels.

As a young boy, Loren found he loved hunting, this love continued for the remainder of his life. Loren’s competitive nature drove him to enjoy many different sports such as handball, auto racing, racquet ball, numerous card games, poker, softball with golf being his favorite. Loren also had many hobbies over his 77 years that including camping, fishing, dancing, and Jaycees. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Loren loved to hang out with his friends and family going to dinner or grilling out, a couple of cold bottles of fresh Budweiser, joking and laughing the entire time. He took pride in caring for his meticulous lawn and his “many” vehicles, as well as attending his grandkids events.

Loren was preceded in death by father: Kenneth L Ellis; mother: Hedy (Harry) Solomon; sister and brother-in-law: Julie & George Lonchar; brother: Tommy Ellis; parents-in-law: Donald & Lucille Karges.

Loren is survived by wife: Suzanne Ellis of Gretna; son: Tim (Beth) Ellis of Omaha; their children: Ethan, Veroniqa & Ilyssa and great-grandson: Michael; daughter: Tiffany (Josh) Hansen of Omaha; their children: Grant, Maddie & Eva; daughter: Traci (Clay) Heavican of Gretna; their children: Colby, Connor & Callan; daughter: Jill (Nick) Stewart of Gretna; their children: Miriah, Kylie, Kennedy, Tinlee, Brecken & Hayes; brother: Pete (Julie) Ellis of Lincoln, CA; sisters-in-law: Corrine (Tom) Goodall of Omaha, Michele (Jeff) McNeal of Lincoln, Carolyn (John) Ciehola of Genoa; best friend: John Norman Miles of St, Joe MO; dog: Duke; nieces & nephews.
