Lawrence (Larry) Daniel Reed was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 9, 1948. His parents, Gene and Vonnie, and his sister, Ona, greeted him in Heaven on Larry’s homecoming day on August 11, 2026. He was 78 years old. His sister Carolyn (85) lives in Tulsa, OK.
Larry married his bride, Karen, on May 10, 1969. He loved going on walks with Karen and even going to quilting stores with her. Once they were empty nesters, they loved taking their motorhome to the Black Hills; to Minnesota to spend time with Kami and Jon on the lake; and going to the Austin-Reed family reunion in Wisconsin for 10 years.
Larry always said that Karen might not be perfect but she was the closest to being perfect that a human could be. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2026!
God blessed them with 3 children: Mike (Christine) of Omaha Kami (Jon) of Fargo, ND Justin (Alicia) of Ceresco, NE They have 8 grandchildren: Brittany (Dakota) and Jordan (Maggie)Sam (Bailey), Oliver, and Lauren Grace, Sofia, and Amiya They have 3 great-grandchildren: Luca, Caenan, and Lennon
Larry’s daily devotions as a boy with his dad, led to a lifelong spiritual discipline and calling into the ministry.
Larry graduated from North Central University with his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies in 1972. He graduated from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in 1995 with his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling.
He received his Ministerial License with the Assemblies of God in 1969 and was honored in 2023 for his 50th year of ordination. He served as the Lead Pastor in churches in Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Illinois and Iowa. He served as Senior Associate Pastor in North Dakota and South Dakota. He also served on the Presbytery board in Louisiana and North Dakota. Larry and Karen retired in 2013 and moved to Omaha to be close to two of their Children: Mike and Justin and their families. He told Kami that he loved her but who moves to Fargo to retire?
Larry worked hard to make sure his priorities in life were: His personal devotional life with GodLoving his wife more today than he did yesterdayLoving his children and their spousesLoving his grandchildren and his great-grandchildrenHis ministryExtended family. He loved making a spiritual investment into many families, couples, and individuals over the last 58 years of his ministry. In his spare time he loved woodworking, playing golf, and watching his grandson, Oliver, play football for NDSU! And last but not least, we all know how much he was a
HUGE BOOMER SOONERS FAN!
