Lavonne M. Hansen Bergen was born Nov. 15, 1935 in Omaha, NE to Harvey and Pauline (Gottsch) Hansen.
She grew up on a farm in Washington County and attended District #63 school and graduated from Benson High in 1953. She got her first job at Mutual of Omaha. Until 1955 when she married Robert Bengen at Kountze Memorial Church. The had two boys, Daniel and Dean Bengen who were baptized at the same church.
After the boys were in High School, Lavonne went back to work at Central States Insurance Company until Northwestern Bell hired her permanently for seven years and subsequently at AT&T for two years.
She took up sewing sweatshirts as well as banners for Lutheran Memorial Church, and entered many sewing contests for the Douglas County Fair, for which she won many ribbons for her work.
She retired when Bob retired from the phone company in 1985, and they enjoyed their retirement together until Bob passed away May of 2014.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, her son Daniel, and her brother Marvin. She is survived by her son Dean, as well as other family and friends.
