Lawrence "Larry" Hall, born February 18, 1928, in Huntsville, Missouri, to John Joseph and Dovey Oneta Hall, entered Heaven on July 14, 2026, as his beloved granddaughter, Cassie, took his hand and led him home.
Larry proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948.
In 1960, he moved to Omaha, where he met Mary. They were married in 1962 and shared 64 years together.
Larry worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He later owned and operated a Skelly service station before establishing his own contracting company, specializing in dirt work. His dedication to hard work and his love for being outdoors kept him active in his business well into his 80s.
Larry never met a stranger. He was always ready to lend a hand or tell you the right way to do something. In fact, if you visited Larry, there was a good chance you'd leave with a job assignment. His grandchildren learned early that a trip with Grandpa usually meant an adventure, and probably some work. To them, he was simply the best Grandpa, always making time for them, teaching life lessons through hard work, and creating memories they will cherish forever.
Larry considered retirement more of a suggestion than a plan. He loved being outdoors and working with his hands, remaining active in his business well into his 90s. He also never threw anything away if he thought it might be useful someday. His knack for staying busy created countless family stories, including the time he accidentally buried his pager in a freshly poured parking lot and only realized it when it started beeping from somewhere beneath the freshly poured concrete.
He faithfully read the newspaper every day and loved clipping out Ann Landers advice columns to share with family members—whether they asked for them or not. He also fully believed every wild story printed in the National Enquirer, often sharing the latest "UFO sighting" as fact and keeping everyone entertained with his "breaking news."
Larry is preceded in death by his parents: John and Dovey Hall; four brothers; three sisters; daughters: Rhonda and Eva; granddaughter: Cassie Sheik; and son‑in‑law: Les Petersen.
He is survived by his wife: Mary; sons: Lawrence “Sam” (Kelly) Hall, John “Joe” Hall, Robbie Hall, Steve (Geri) Thomas, Mark Thomas, Lawrence “Larry” Hall, and David (Angela) Hall; daughters: Pat (Chuck) Sheik and Rhonda Petersen; along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
