Kevin Joseph Hergott passed away on September 23, 2022 at the age of 65 at his home in Gretna, Nebraska, after a courageous battle with cancer. Despite the setbacks, he remained positive and optimistic until the end.

Kevin was born in Hebron, Nebraska, on March 27, 1957 to Lawrence and Ruth Hergott. Kevin was the youngest of 5 children. Kevin graduated from Hebron High School in 1975. After graduation, he went on to work on the family farm. He then purchased the Ace Hardware Store in Hebron, and after a few years, he started Hergott Underground Irrigation.

Kevin had a strong passion for helping others at a young age. He began volunteering for the Hebron Fire Department and went on to become an EMT. After moving to Fairbury, he managed the Jefferson County ambulance services. Kevin was also a volunteer for the Lancaster County Chapter of the American Red Cross for several years.

Kevin was united in marriage to Delayne Peterson on April 16, 2011. Together they resided in Gretna, Nebraska and owned D & K Two Rivers Storage. He also proudly served as a volunteer on the Gretna Fire Department.

Kevin’s passions in life included coaching all three of his daughters in softball and basketball. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved to camp in the infield at Kansas City Speedway. He enjoyed attending local dirt track racing with friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, taking them on tractor and Gator rides. In his other free time, he enjoyed browsing GMC parking lots and the Menards aisles.

Kevin is survived by his Wife: Delayne Peterson Hergott of Gretna, Nebraska; Mother-in-Law: Dorothy Peterson of Wahoo, Nebraska; Daughters: Stacey Selk of South Sioux City, Nebraska; Kayla Beachler of Spencer, Iowa; Emily Gronewold of Lincoln, Nebraska; Grandchildren: Jackson Selk , Morgan Beachler , Austin Beachler and Ada Gronewold ; Siblings: Dianne Sarchet of Gotha, Florida, Larry Hergott of Hebron, Nebraska, Randy Hergott of Hebron, Nebraska; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
