Kenneth O. Johnson

Kenneth was born to Glenn & Evelyn Johnson on June 20th,1931, in Omaha Nebraska. He went to school in Pershing, Underwood, & District 19 & graduated from Irvington High School in 1950. He & Beverly were high school sweethearts & were married on April,23, 1952. Ken joined the Navy in December 1950 & served until October 1954. He served aboard the USS Bisbee & the USS James E. Kyes (rhymes with Dyes). After being discharged from the Navy, they made their home in Omaha, where Ken worked in the sheet-metal trade, until retirement. Then he worked for Bakers for several years delivering flowers, Ken had several hobbies: #1 Waterskiing, where he won many trophies doing trick-skiing. He liked to fish, especially with family & friends, also enjoyed golf, & playing cards. In retirement they wintered in Pharr, Texas. They also LOVED traveling & visited all 50 states & all Canadian Provinces boarding the U.S. especially enjoying Nova Scotia. They Loved camping; starting out with a tent, then a truck with a cover, then a slide in camper, then several motorhomes. They had two children: Linda, born February 18th, 1953, & Rick, born February 18th, 1957, which was Beverly`s grandmother’s birthday also. Ken was active in the V.F.W. Post 2503, where he had served with the Honor Guard since 1992. He was also active in Northwest Hills Church, & the Open Door Mission. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife: Beverly; parents: Evelyn & Glenn Johnson; brothers: Walter & Don; great-grandson: Tyler Johnson; & great-daughter: Leah Murphy.
