Kendall John Kratky

Kendall John Kratky was born to John and Nancy Kratky on March 16, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska.  The couple had a daughter, Kari, and Kendall’s birth made the family complete.

Growing up, Kendall enjoyed Cub Scouts, baseball, and being silly with his friends.  He was athletic, serving as a pitcher for his baseball team and earning a black belt in karate.  Later, he developed an interest in weightlifting and bodybuilding.  He did well in school, attending Hartman Elementary School, Beveridge Jr. High School, and Central and Northwest High Schools, graduating from Northwest in 1990.

Kendall graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in computer science.

During his college years, Kendall began struggling with mental health issues and was eventually deemed unable to work full-time.  He earned a certification as a fitness instructor and periodically worked other odd jobs, such as being an Uber driver.  He enjoyed his cat, Precious, watching football and tennis, walking and lifting weights, and playing video games.  He especially liked racing games.

Kendall loved music and had an eclectic collection, everything from Pink Floyd to the Beach Boys to Matthew West.

Along the way, he met missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and eventually was baptized as a member.  His involvement in the church helped him in many ways.

Kendall cherished spending time with his friends and being a loving uncle to his niece, Claire, and nephew, Spencer.  Every year he looked forward to Christmas and thoughtfully selected gifts for his family and friends.

His last years were difficult ones.  He developed lithium toxicity in June 2019 which significantly damaged his nervous system and he had to live in a nursing home because of these physical ailments.

Kendall was preceded in death by his father, L. John Kratky.  He is survived by his mother, Nancy Kratky; sister, Kari Kratky Shullaw and brother-in-law, Jeff Shullaw; niece, Claire Salem; nephew, Spencer Salem; aunt, Carole Huber, cousins and friends.

Memorials suggested to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or the Nebraska Humane Society.
