Judy A. Plath

Judy was preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and LaVern Albers and 3 older brothers: Robert, Richard, and David. She was survived by a younger brother: Randal.

Judy's life began during a blizzard in NE Nebraska on December 3, 1955.Her parents carefully made the trek from Fordyce, NE to Yankton, SD where she was born. Her father passed away when she was just 5. She grew up on the family farm and attended various rural schools. She graduated from Hartington High School in 1974. She moved to Omaha and lived with her brother Dick and his wife while attending UNO.

Judy was married in 1976 to David Radcliffe and put her business degree on hold. She took a job at Beebe and Runyon where she met longtime friends Glenda Yost and Pat Walling. In 1979, she was divorced and went work for the Corps of Engineers. In 1984, she began working at OPPD in the Engineering Division located in the Brandeis Building at the time. This is where she and Bob Plath first met. She also resumed pursuit of her business degree by taking night classes at UNO.

In 1988, she was promoted to Supervisor of Document Control in Generating Station Engineering. In 1993, Judy and Bob were married in Las Vegas with Neil and Mary McShannon as witnesses. Later that same year, Judy received her BA in Business Administration from UNO. During the 1990's, Judy enjoyed traveling including several cruises and many return trips to Las Vegas. She loved Husker football home games and frequently traveled to away games. In 2000, Judy and Bob were among a group of 16 OPPD employees and spouses on Cruise from Florida through the Panama Canal and ended in Acapulco.

Later in 2000, Judy was promoted to Supervisor of Records Management in the Information Technology Division. In 2006, Judy and Bob served as chaperones for a group of college students from Yankton, SD to Europe. She enjoyed the many stops in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. In later years, Judy absorbed both the mail room and the print shop people and functions. Records Management became Document Services and Judy retired in 2014 as Supervisor of Document Services.

Throughout her career, Judy was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed both bowling and golf and never missed Bob's softball games where she kept score and the team in line. Somebody had to be in charge!

Bob joined Judy in retirement in 2016 and both remained in Omaha. Judy will be missed by friends and family but not forgotten. Today she resides in a better place and free of the pain of her last few years.

Judy is survived by her husband of 32 years: Bob Plath; nieces: Jessica and Nicole Albers; and other loving family and friends.
