Judy M. Jones

Judy Marie Jones was born on March 20th, 1946 in Harlan, IA to Gilbert and Lidwina Rau. She was the youngest of 15 siblings, including 11 girls and 4 boys. Judy graduated from Manila High School in 1964 where she met the love of her life, Richard Jones. The couple would marry on August 6th, 1966 in Portsmouth, IA. After a short time in Frederick, MD, Judy and Richard moved to Omaha in 1968 where they raised six children. In 1978, the couple moved into the home they would live in for 47 years. Judy would go on to work at Omaha Northwest High School in the cafeteria for 15 years. She was an active member of her church, doing jobs like cleaning, scheduling, and even decorating, and she was recognized as St. Elizabeth Ann's Woman of the Year in 2025. After retiring in 2011, she would finally be able to relax and enjoy her home, gardening, and family time. Her home was known as a place of family gatherings where her kids, grandkids and relatives would regularly gather to eat, drink and laugh. But it was her faith that was the foundation that she created her family around. She was a devout Catholic her entire life, and her belief in God never waivered. Over the years, Judy was not only a mother to her six children, but she embraced any family or friends that came into her home, treating them like her own. She truly was the ultimate mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wife.

Judy passed away May 21st, 2026 surrounded by family attaining the age of eighty years, two months and one day. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, eleven siblings, grandson Grady Segebart, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Jones.

She is survived by husband, Richard Jones of Omaha, NE; children, Tracey Jones of Omaha, NE, Michelle (Pat) Wolf of Omaha, NE, Scott (Kristi) Jones of Waterloo, NE, Lisa Jones of Omaha, NE, Michael (Jennifer) Jones of Janesville, WI, Daniel Jones of Bennington, NE; Sisters Martha Bissen of Harlan, IA, Verla Mumm of Earling, IA and Patricia Kuether of Pierce, NE; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
