Judith “Judy” Anne Desch passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2022. She went to be with Jesus surrounded by her family, the people who she spent her life loving so well.
Judy was born April 27th, 1948. She grew up in Tekamah, Atkinson and Red Cloud with her brother Alan Hughes (Judy Hughes) of Surprise, Arizona and her sister Jane Ahl (Jeff Ahl) of Lincoln, Nebraska. After graduating from Red Cloud in 1966 Judy went on to Nebraska Wesleyan where she would meet Terry. Judy shared that after meeting Terry in speech class, she told her friend, “I’m going to marry that guy”. Indeed she did, on May 29th, 1970. They continued to “pitch woo” for another 52 years. After graduation they moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, and together served children in the schools, preschool, Stuhr Museum and at their church. Most of those years were spent helping to start and then teach at First Presbyterian Preschool in Grand Island until her retirement just a few years ago. After retirement, they moved to Omaha to be closer to family.
She was a loving and supportive mother to Gretchen Heusel (Stacy) of Omaha, Nebraska and Ryan Desch (Jackie) of Naperville, Illinois. She has five grandchildren Sam, Max, Maisie, Annie, and Noelle.
She loved gardening, dancing, singing, playing piano, and serving others. What she enjoyed most of all was being with her grandchildren and family. They were her pride and joy. She could be found playing with trucks, watching sporting events, school activities, tea parties with the fine China, drawing, games or making crafts with them.
A celebration will be held at the Waters Edge Church at 19600 Harrison Street in Omaha, Ne. The visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 with the service at 11:00, lunch following. The service will also be streamed live at www.YouTube.com/weomaha.
