Judith A. Peterson (Judy)

Gretna - Judy (Judith) Ann Peterson passed away peacefully, March, 22 2025 in her home. She was born December 22, 1941 in Blair NE to Patricia and Russell Peak. She was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln high school and attended Omaha Art School where she met her husband Larry Peterson. Growing up, Judy enjoyed art and horseback riding including a horse named Silver that only she could ride. After getting married she worked full time for North Western telephone company and part time for the yellow pages and did freelance artwork as an art designer. Judy had a strong faith and was involved in later years in the messianic community of which she especially enjoyed the dancing and music. Her faith allowed her to not only recover from a stroke and a brain hemorrhage a week later, but she also beat breast cancer twice. Judy had an incredible talent for oil painting and loved sharing this love with others, by teaching art classes to students and designing her own homeschool art lessons, many of the curriculums she gave away for free. She is preceded in death by her father Russell Peak mother Patricia Peak and nephew Marc Hipsher. She is survived by her husband Larry Peterson, sister Joan Hipsher, brother Gary Peak, sister in law Cindy Peak, sister in law Mary Peterson, daughters Cristine Peterson, Laura Noah, grandchildren Dustin and Alisha Dooley, and nephews and niece, Mark Brown, Craig Hipsher, James, Kim and Christopher Peterson.

Visitation Thursday 12:00 - 1:00 PM at mortuary. Funeral Service 1:00 PM Thursday (3/27/25) at Roeder Mortuary 11710 Standing Stone Gretna, NE. Interment Voss-Mohr Cemetery at Omaha, Nebraska. There will be a luncheon served after the burial at 11903 Iva St. Gretna.
