May 28, 1943 – October 1, 2021 Judith Swanson Kumm was born in Oakland, Nebraska May 28, 1943 to Ivar and Marcella Swanson. She was baptized at the First Lutheran Church in Oakland on September 24, 1943. When Judy was 4 years old, she moved to Wausa, Nebraska with her parents and siblings. She was raised on a farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse through the 8 th grade, and then attended Wausa High School. Judy was confirmed at Thabor Lutheran Church in Wausa. After graduation from high school, she went to the School of Practical Nursing in Mitchell, South Dakota, where she graduated in 1962 as an LPN. She then moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked at Clarkson Hospital for 30 years. She retired from nursing after 35 years. She married Gordon Paul Kumm of Wausa on October 6, 1963 at Thabor Lutheran Church in Wausa. Through this union they had three children. They lived in Omaha for 7 years and then moved to Gretna in 1970, where they lived their remaining years. They were members of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Judy loved nursing, caring for and being with people. She loved travelling, camping, walking her pet dogs, and being with her family. She adored her grandchildren! Judy is survived by her children: Matthew Kumm of Mead, Nebraska; Laura Kracht of Shelby, Nebraska; and Jennifer Goodwin of Omaha; grandchildren Jonathan and Jesse Kracht; and Paul, Jaden and Taylor Goodwin; many nieces and nephews; one sister ; and a host of friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her three sisters, and her brother. Visitation is Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Roeder Mortuary, 11710 Standing Stone Drive in Gretna. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 153 S McKenna Avenue, in Gretna.
