Joy A. Peters

Joy Ann Peters, 89, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in Omaha after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Joy was born in Alliance, Nebraska on January 31, 1936. On February 5, 1955, she married Francis L. (Pete) Peters, and they shared 54 years of marriage together before he passed in 2009. She was fun-loving and enjoyed spending time with family. She was a fan of funny T-shirts with bling and loved Husker football.

She was also preceded in death by parents, Margaret and Carl Behrends and grandson, Christopher Peters.

Joy is survived by children and spouses, Patrick M. (Mike) & Katherine Peters, Liberty, MO, Theresa Peters & Michael Sorgenfrei, Omaha; Thomas & Kiyoko Peters, Oxnard, CA; Kathleen & Jeffrey C. (Chuck) Story, Omaha; DeAnna & Steve Reichwaldt, Buford, GA; and Shawn Peters, Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by grandchildren Patricia, Michael, Shannon, Margaret, Shane, Kotomi, Jeffrey, Elizabeth, Alexander, Eric and Kaitlyn; 21 great-grandchildren; her sister, Kay Hanson and her brother, Tom Whisman.
