Omaha – Age 86 He was born on August 23, 1932 in Beaver Falls, PA. He served his country in the Korean War as a Navy Sharpshooter, where he earned a Purple Heart. He married Flora Mae in 1987. Joe retired from Lucent Technologies in 1995. He enjoyed jazz music, playing the piano & organ, photography, learning to speak German, his pets, and was a friend of Bill.


Survived by wife Flora; daughter Michele Taylor; three stepdaughters Twila Pendgraft; Kitty Schiller and special friend Tom. Gina “Princess” VanLaningham; stepson Michael Morris; ten grandchildren; sister Betty Carman; brother Frank Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
