Joe Schluter was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 16, 1949. His mother, Marge, had 3 additional children: Jim, Judy and Bob.
Joe spent his life in Omaha.
Joe served as a Navy Seal from 1969-1970 and remained in the reserves for several years later. When he returned, he married “his Linda” in 1971. Together they had four children: Dan, Julie, Theresa and Erica.
Joe lived his life working on cars and becoming a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed boating, camping, family vacations and throwing parties, especially Husker Parties.
The last couple of years, Joe’s health started to deteriorate. When his wife, Linda, passed away in March of 2024, he missed her so. On January 16, 2025, he was reunited with “his Linda”.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years: Linda Mae Schluter. He is survived by children: Daniel Schluter (Sandra), Julie Schluter (Jeff Wickwire), Theresa Ansley (Jeremy), Erica Welniak; 12 grandchildren; siblings: Jim Reiser, Judy Marx (Dick), Bob Schluter (Debra).
There will be a Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 PM Wednesday (1/22/2025) at Roeder Mortuary Gretna Chapel; Graveside Service 11:00 AM Thursday (1/23/2025) at Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorials to the family for later designation.
