Joseph "Joe" L.
Rubeck
July 5, 1943 – March 18, 2026
Joseph L. Rubeck, 82, was born July 5th, 1943 in Omaha, NE. He passed peacefully away March 18, 2026 in Omaha, NE. He grew up in Omaha with an older sister and brother.
Joe met his wife Kathy in 1964 and they were married April 26, 1969. Joe and Kathy raised their two boys, Brian and Matt, in Omaha NE. Joe's wife and kids were his priority. Joe held many jobs in his lifetime, mailman, bar owner, employed at Lozier installing store fixtures, in the carpenter's union who sent him to trade school to learn to read blueprints. Years later he went on to start his own business, Commercial Ceilings, Inc. Both his sons worked for him and they both went on to their own careers in the ceiling business. Joe had an impeccable work ethic, he was very hard working and he passed that work ethic on to his sons. Joe had a very hard time retiring, which was not until he was 75 years old.
Joe was outgoing and friendly all the time unless you gave him a reason not to be! He had a quick wit and was known to be ornery as well. Joe would not necessarily start a fight but he was not one to back down. He was always willing to help others in need and he would give the shirt off his back if you needed it. He loved being with family and friends. He went on many vacations and cruises over the years and made many great memories. His favorite vacation time was taking his boys and going camping/fishing at Ft. Randall, SD with several family members and friends. Joe loved to make breakfast out of Walleye and eggs and he enjoyed sending the kids out on a "Snipe" hunt.
When Joe owned the bar you would find him playing pinball or pool when he was working there. Joe loved to fish and always had a pole on the boat (and a bottle of scotch too!) He loved kids and taught many of the kids on the boating dock how to "fart" using their armpit and they all came to Joe to help them bait their hooks for fishing. He earned the title Master-Baiter.
Joe loved animals, especially dogs, there was never a time there wasn't a dog in the house. Their dogs included, Honcho(a Great Dane) Patsy(an Afghan) and many smaller dogs, Murphy, Cassidy, Griffin, Tessa, Sophie and Toby.
Other hobbies were gambling(Joe loved the race track and wanted to buy a race horse and he loved to watch football and bet on the games), riding his motorcycle(that won best in show), boating and going on vacations/cruises. Joe had a saying :"There are 3 things a man should own in his lifetime, a bar, a boat and a race horse." He managed to get 2 of the 3 during his lifetime.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, James N. Rubeck and Theresa Rubeck, his sister Theresa Bellus, and his brother James Rubeck II.
Joe is survived by his wife, Kathy Rubeck, sons, Brian (Kristine) Rubeck, and Matt Rubeck, his brother-in-law Jack Bellus, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
