Johnny was born April 18, 1921 to Henry and Maria Siebert on a farm in Hamilton County NE. Johnny was the second oldest of 10 children in the family, farming on two different farmsteads west of Henderson, NE. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1940. He was then baptized in the Blue River south of Henderson and joined the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in the summer of 1935.

Johnny married Anna on August 12, 1945. After farming near Luton, Iowa for one year, they moved to Omaha, NE where Johnny attended and graduated from Grace Bible Institute. Johnny & Anna raised 4 children: Lee, Cherry, Steve, and Loren.

In April of 1951, Johnny & Anna and their first two children sailed to Japan where they entered into missionary service where their two other children were born. Johnny & Anna served in a blessed, fruitful ministry for 38 years. They retired and moved to Lincoln, NE in 1989, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 2005.
