John H. Johnson, a devoted father, grandfather, veteran, and minister, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026 at the age of 76.
Born on September 11th, 1949 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas, John grew up with a strong sense of family, duty, faith, and compassion—values that guided him throughout his life. He honorably served his country for many years in the United States Marines, where he demonstrated courage, commitment, and pride in defending freedom for others.
Following his military service, John answered a higher calling to ministry. As a dedicated minister, he faithfully served his congregation and community, offering guidance, comfort, and unwavering support to those in need. His sermons reflected his deep faith, and his life was a testament to the values he preached—kindness, humility, and love for others.
In addition to his ministry, John worked as a Field Technician for Northwestern Bell for many years, earning the respect of colleagues and the admiration of those who knew him. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Above all, John treasured his family. He is survived by his beloved sons, Brian Johnson Sr. (Alicia Bergstrom), John “Shody” Johnson (Coretta Johnson), and Corey Johnson (Cayla Johnson) and many grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. He also leaves behind other surviving family members. Preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Arnetta Johnson and sister, Loretta Johnson.
In his free time, John enjoyed music, art, bowling, and he valued the simple moments spent with loved ones. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, quiet strength, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to both his faith and his family.
A service celebrating his life will be held on May 1st, 2026, at Roeder Mortuaries, 2727 N. 108th St. Omaha, NE, 68164.
John will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
