John Paul Clark

John Paul Clark, 76, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, after spending the previous day with his wife, Barbara, and children, Chris and Laura.

The youngest of three, John was born to John D. Clark and Irene Preister Clark on October 7, 1949, in Columbus, NE. He and his two sisters, Carolyn and Ann, were raised by their mother and her extended family after his father’s death in 1955. He began work at an early age, helping on his older sister’s family farm, and working with his uncle and father-figure, Paul Zuerlein. These early experiences shaped John’s lifelong devotion to family and his work ethic.

On August 18, 1972, John married Barbara Ann Wennekamp, and they made Omaha their home. They welcomed their son, Christopher, in 1975 and their daughter, Laura, in 1981. A devoted husband and father, John was actively involved in his children’s lives—from Boy Scout camping with Chris to coaching Laura’s soccer teams—and took great pride in their academic achievements.

When not on a sideline or at a campsite, John enjoyed photography, cooking, woodworking and home improvement projects, motorcycling, and bicycling with friends, including an epic ride on BRAN (Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska). He was an active member of St. James Catholic Church—serving as an usher, on the social committee, as a Stephen Minister, and coordinating parishioners for Habitat for Humanity efforts.

A longtime professional in commercial food service with Buller Fixture Corporation, John designed and equipped kitchens and facilities with his colleagues at schools, hospitals, and restaurants across Omaha/Eastern Iowa. Of course, when St. James built its new parish center, John eagerly volunteered his professional services alongside other friends from the parish.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara; his two children, Christopher (Julie) Clark and Laura (Tom) Augustine; and his four cherished grandchildren, Noah (19), Daniel (17), Savannah (15), and Hudson (7). He was a proud and loving grandfather who took immense joy in watching them grow.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John D. Clark and Irene Priester Clark, and his dear sisters, Carolyn and Ann.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 N. 108th St. Funeral service will be Monday, June 1, 2026, at 10:30am at St. James Catholic Church, followed by a luncheon.
