Joanne (Tuttle) Lubberstedt was born in Laurel, Nebraska, on May 15, 1939, to Walter and Fern Tuttle. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, M. Dean Lubberstedt. Joanne graduated from Laurel High School and Wayne State College. She taught in the Omaha Public Schools for over thirty years, sticking with first grade as she loved teaching her students to read.
She married Dean Lubberstedt on June 25, 1960, and they were married for 56 years before Dean passed away in 2016.
She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Benson for over 50 years, and she and Dean treasured the friendships they developed with their MARCO friends. This group came together when they were all young married couples, and saw one another through parenthood and grandparenthood, professional careers and retirement, health and disability. The support of those friends extends to her family today.
In retirement, Joanne was active in the American Association of University Women, Kappa Kappa Iota, OARSEA, the Douglas County Historical Society, and she took an antiques class through the Historical Society with fellow retired teachers for over 25 years. Her relationships with her teacher friends were very important to her throughout her professional career and into retirement.
Joanne is survived by daughters Bobbi (Doug) Larsen and Shelli (Chad) Schoettger; grandchildren Devin (Taylor), Connor, Brendan, and Aidan Larsen; Emily and Natalie Schoettger; brother Gary Tuttle; nephews, family and, friends.
