Joan Kruger was born on August 30th, 1941, to Richard Myers and Gladys Myers (Webb) in West Plains, MO. She went to school and got her associate's degree of arts in Biblical Studies from the Western Bible College, as well as a 2-year degree in Writing from Amedea. She loved her family and was a proud pastor's wife. She passed away on December 16th, 2024, surrounded by people she loved, in Omaha, NE.
Joan is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Kruger, sons Mark (Ann) and Bill (Wynter), sister Suzie Hawks, brother Terry Myers, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Barbara Downen and Rena Rivera, and brothers Vern Myers and Bill Myers.
Joan’s life was given heart and soul to ministry in the Assemblies of God churches her husband Bill pastored during their 50-plus years of joint ministry. She loved church work and the people of God. “Sister Kruger” was a fixture in every church. She could be found at the organ, praying at the altar, writing the church bulletin, counseling young women and couples, and greeting people at the door. She made ministry a family affair that drew in her two sons. She often recruited them into duets, quartets, and choirs, which she loved to direct. It’s not hard to imagine her in heaven, organizing a group of angels to sing the Halleluiah Chorus. Joan was a prolific writer and poet, with many published poems, articles, and books to her credit. She loved to write and to talk about writing.
