Jerry Anderson

Jerry Anderson, a man of profound faith, devoted veteran, beloved brother, favorite uncle, and cherished friend, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2026, at the age of 59.

Born on September 17, 1966, in Como, Mississippi, to Joe Young and Jewel Anderson, Jerry’s journey eventually led him to Omaha, Nebraska. A proud graduate of Omaha Burke High School’s Class of 1985, Jerry was known for his drive and his ability to excel in all his pursuits. Immediately following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. He devoted four years to active duty, a period of his life that shaped him into a proud and disciplined veteran.

Jerry was known for his steadfast convictions—both in his faith and his football. While Jerry called Nebraska home, his heart belonged to Oklahoma. A die-hard Oklahoma Sooners fan, Jerry took great delight in his loyalty to his team—and perhaps took even more delight in the friendly rivalry of not being a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan. His quick wit and playful spirit regarding the "Big Red" will be fondly remembered by all who tried to convert him.

Jerry’s transition to his eternal resting place leaves a void in the many lives he touched. He leaves to cherish his heartfelt memories siblings: sister, Loise Anderson; his brothers, Preston Mills, MacArthur Mills (Bonnie), and Philip Anderson (Berniece); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Jewel Anderson, sisters, Mary L. Jones and Mary A. Perry, and his brother, Erven Anderson.
