Jerry graduated from North High School in 1964. He joined the Navy in the Vietnam era serving from 1966 to 1970.
He married Sandra (Christensen) in 1968.
He was an active member of Pilgrim Christian Church in Benson.
Jerry was a very active person. He loved Scuba Diving and took many dive trips with Sandy. He also enjoyed travel to above water places. Particularly he loved trips to New Zealand and to Alaska.
Jerry retired from Electronic Sound in 2001. He enjoyed his retirement and was involved in many activities. He volunteered at the Omaha Zoo for 32 years. At the zoo he cleaned the shark tank as a scuba diver and for 17 years at Christmas he was Santa Claus diving with the sharks.
For several years he volunteered with the Fish and Wildlife at DeSoto NWR and Boyer Chute by mowing the fields at Boyer and helping to open the gift shop at DeSoto NWR.
Jerry also volunteered for ENOA . He drove people in the Blair area to the grocery stores
He was member or the Washington County Museum Association and on the Facilities Committee for many years.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years: Sandra (Christensen) Grove; his cousins: Suzanne Williams, Julie Wilson (Harry); and many close friends.
There will be a Visitation 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday (5/6/2026) with Service 10:00 AM Thursday (5/7/2026) all at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th St. Omaha, NE; Burial at Fort Calhoun Cemetery in Fort Calhoun, NE.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Washington County Museum or Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo.
