Jeffrey A. Bainbridge

Omaha -

Jeffrey (Jeff) Allen Bainbridge was born on August 14, 1956, in Omaha, NE, to Justus (Juddy) and Ethel (Johnson) Bainbridge. He was born two days after Ethel’s 40th birthday. He grew up on the family farm at 150th and Fort St. and attended District 58. In 1970 the family moved into Omaha, and Jeff attended 9th grade at Morton Jr. High School, going from a small class of less than five to hundreds of students in each class — a major adjustment! He graduated from Burke High School in 1974.

He graduated from UNL in 1978 with many honors and passed the CPA exam on his first try in May of that year. Jeff started working for Price Waterhouse Public Accounting Firm in Chicago, IL. Jeff had a brown Trans Am with a phoenix on the hood that he drove in college and in Chicago. He was very proud of that car!

His accounting career progressed with roles at Commercial Federal Savings & Loan in Omaha (1981), First Data Resources (1990), and Conley Investment Counsel (2000). In 2006, Jeff achieved his dream of opening his own investment company called JB Financial Services. He also became a Certified Financial Planner. Ill health led him to early retirement.

Jeff was a volunteer at several organizations. At King of Kings Lutheran Church, he served as a Sunday School teacher for approximately 20 years and also as the church Treasurer and at Vacation Bible School. He absolutely loved being a baseball coach for his son, Justin, in the Challenger Little League and later watching Kyle continue in his footsteps as Justin’s coach. He served on the board of the Ollie Webb Center for many years, including four years as President. This organization was near and dear to his heart as it helped individuals with developmental disabilities, like his son Justin. For Kyle and Kristin, he enjoyed the camaraderie of being a “Roadie” for the Millard North High School Marching Band, moving equipment and instruments for band competitions.

Jeff had a tradition of taking all the kids to HyVee for breakfast with Papa Juddy and Grandma Ethel for many, many years. His love of going out for breakfast or going out to eat in general continued throughout all the years of his life with his children, grandchildren, and other close loved ones. He was a frequent visitor of Le Peep, Summer Kitchen, and Wheatfields and enjoyed good BBQ and Italian food. He also enjoyed yearly vacations and playing cards. He was an avid Cornhusker fan with Husker gear in frequent rotation in his wardrobe. He attended several Big 8 Baseball tournaments in Oklahoma City back when the conference was only 8!

Music was a part of the Bainbridge household for a long time. Jeff enjoyed listening to all his children play piano, often with specific song requests for his daughter throughout the decades and later listening to Max and Molly. Grandpa Jeff adored his grandchildren. Whether playing games together, listening to them develop their piano skills, or holding his littlest granddaughters and getting updates on their latest milestones.

Jeff passed unexpectedly but peacefully on his 68th birthday on August 14, 2024, at Aksarben Assisted Living after battling early onset Parkinson’s since September 2000. Being active was important to Jeff, such as working out or going on bike rides, despite the challenges of Parkinson’s. There were many ups and downs of the disease, but he is finally at peace, free of Parkinson’s in the hands of the Lord.

Jeff is survived by his three children, Kyle (Samantha) Bainbridge of Omaha, Justin Bainbridge of Omaha, and Kristin (JD) Reddaway of Shoreline, WA; his grandchildren, Max and Molly Bainbridge and Kenna and Ella Reddaway; his brother Brian Bainbridge of Valparaiso, NE; and family and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Justus and Ethel Bainbridge.
