It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Marie Snell (Neff), who left us on July 1st, 2025. She was 98 years old.
Jeanne was born February 17th, 1927 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Lottie and Clifford Neff. She grew up in Minneapolis. She married John E. Snell on July 29th, 1949 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jeanne studied education at Waubonsee College in Illinois. Jeanne and John had three loving daughters Susan, Kathyrn and Nancy. During their marriage they lived in Marion, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; Geneva, Illinois. Jeanne and her husband spent countless winters playing golf and enjoying the weather and spending time with friends in Pensacola, Florida. They had been married for 58 years at the time of John’s passing in 2007.
Jeanne was a tremendous supporter of people with disabilities as well as conservation and preservation efforts on Isle Royale National Park. She and John spent their honeymoon exploring the wilderness of Isle Royale together. She enjoyed reading, golf in her youth and traveling with her beloved husband John.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband John, and her sister Lois Haynes, as well as her grandson Daniel McDonell. Jeanne is survived by her cherished daughters Susan Kieckhaefer (Snell), Kathryn McDonell (Snell) and Nancy Snell, four granddaughters, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 4th, 2025 at Presbyterian Church of the Master, 10710 Corby Circle, Omaha, NE. Service at 10:30 am with light lunch after.
