Jeanette Haynes was born in Glasgow, Montana July 16, 1966, (yes, Glasgow, Montana) to Samuel Earl Evans and Arlene (Jackson)Evans. Jeanette was baptized at a young age at First Baptist Church in Bellevue, Nebraska. She graduated from Bellevue East High School in 1984 and while living in California she attended Yuba City College. After returning to Omaha, Jeanette dedicated her entire life to childcare with a focus on infants and toddlers.
Jeanette met her late husband Garry Haynes in 1985 while working together. As they prepared for marriage they became members of Immanuel Community Church, where they grew and served God for over 17 years. They married April 24, 2004, giving them over 36 wonderful years together before Garry was called home on April 12, 2021. The scripture says, disciples must produce much fruit which glorifies God, and Jeanette along with her husband did that through their strengthened faith.
Although Jeanette and Garry had no children of their own, she had a love for all children and was jokingly called the “Baby Whisperer” since children seemed to respond to her mothering nature. She volunteered to be the youth Sunday school teacher for Immanuel Community Church until someone was called to lead. At times she felt that she was not qualified to teach youth ministry, however, the children gravitated to her kind spirit and loved to spend time with her. She used her many years of childcare experience to develop activities and lessons that engaged the children of all ages in discussion that sparked an interest in learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As instructed by God, Jeanette used her natural gifts and talents to Glorify the Lord and lead a new generation to salvation through Jesus Christ.
Jeanette loved to travel, and whenever she had the opportunity to take a trip, beach vacations were her favorite. She often brought a bag of games, snacks to share, and a good book to pass the time. She loved to read and would spend her free time curled up with a good book. Her love of reading led her to join many book clubs that helped fill her time and share her love of reading though discussion with her fellow book club friends.
Jeanette passed away peacefully at the age of 56 in her sleep on June 12, 2023. She will be missed by many, her life was short, but impactful. Her smile and wit were infectious and readily available. She showed her love by trying to support as many people as possible in the time that she was given.
