Hillcrest Memorial Park, Omaha, NE Janet was born on October 11, 1927 in Omaha to John and Louise Ritter. She attended school in Nashville, NE in her early years and graduated from Louisville High School in 1944 at the age of 16.  Janet met Ed at her cousin’s house in 1947 and they were united in marriage on April 10, 1948.  This year they celebrated 72 years together. Janet attended Dana College, graduating in 1970 and began her career as a teacher with OPS. She received her Master’s Degree in 1976.  Her elementary teaching career was at Harrison and Belvedere Elementary Schools. After retirement Janet and Ed traveled extensively overseas and in the US.  They always found time to take the grandchildren on trips, be there for their sporting events and to play a game of cards. Janet was active at Lord of Love Lutheran Church, supported the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, enjoyed quilting and sewing, and cherished family events. She will be so missed! Janet was preceded in death by Son: James; Parents: John & Louise Ritter; Brother: Francis "Tex" Ritter; She is survived by her Husband of 72 years: Edward; Son: John of Chillicothe, MO; Daughter: Peggy Murphy; Daughter-in-Law: Karen Guthrie; Grandchildren: Kristina Staebell, Kara Winkelbauer, Talia Swanson, Aaron Maurice, Rachel Romeiser, Ryan Guthrie; 11 Great-grandchildren; Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, and loving friends. The service will be Live Streamed on YouTube: https://youtu.be/gVRIL6zEKY0 Memorials to Lord of Love Lutheran Church.
