Janelle J. Dirksen

After bravely fighting pancreatic cancer for over 2 years, Janelle June Dirksen, was blessed with a holy death and fell asleep in Jesus on 12/21/2023, at the age of 84.

Janelle June Dirksen was born June 24, 1939 in Wayne, NE to Henry and Louise (Goeller) Reuter. She was baptized on July 23, 1939 and was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE on April 2, 1952. At the age of 15 she began many years as her church organist and soloist for weddings, anniversaries and funerals. She attended Wayne State College after which she taught country school. She was married to Leonard Doffin and they were blessed with the gift of four children: Gregory, Brenda, Brian and Rachel. She gave organ and piano lessons for many years. Brenda loved her lessons and still plays the piano, Gregory and Rachel tolerated the lessons, but his love of motorcycles and her love of horses won out. Janelle was a homemaker for many years after which she decorated cakes at Dairy Queen and then worked at Herbergers for many years where she met many wonderful friends.

Later in life she married Denis Woslager. They spent their brief time together enjoying life by traveling to many places, spending extended time in Arizona during the winter months and splitting their home time with their families in Norfolk, NE and Brookings, SD. Janelle was by Denis’ side when he passed away February 3, 2010.

Janelle moved to Omaha, NE and married Kenneth Dirksen on December 28, 2013. The two of them were always on the go and doing something fun. Together, they enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to Janelle’s favorite place, Hawaii.

Janelle was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church in Omaha where she was past-president for their LWML. Her Lutheran faith was of the utmost importance to her and her faith in the Lord never wavered.

Janelle was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louise Reuter; infant son, Brian Doffin and two siblings, Calvin Reuter and Marlin Reuter. She is survived by her husband Kenneth Dirksen, Gregory (Patricia) Doffin, Brenda Schroeder and Rachel (Aaron) Arens. Grandchildren- Zachary Doffin, Trevor Doffin, Lacey (Rob) Sears, Austin Schroeder and Hunter Arens and one great-grandchild – Spencer Sears.
