James Walter Tosoni

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, James Walter Tosoni, who left us on November 11, 2024 at the age of 77. He died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; his children, Lisa (Dave) Manning of Omaha; Sarah (Joe) Parys of Omaha, Joe (Emily) Tosoni of Helena, MT, and Maggie of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; his 99 year old mother, Mabel, and 3 brothers Dan (Debby), Tom (Susan), and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his father, Adelio Tosoni, and grandson, Cohen Daniel Tosoni.

Jim was born on February 20, 1947, the son of Adelio and Mabel (Janecek) Tosoni. He graduated from Benson High School in 1965, attended UNL before serving in the U.S. Army from 1968-1969, and then graduated from UNO earning a degree in Engineering and Technology. In between, he married the love of his life, Jean Marie (Larkin) Tosoni, in 1971.

Jim was a natural builder, a true handyman capable of repairing anything that he set his mind on. He designed and built his family’s unique home, repaired his own vehicles no matter how old, and started a Christmas tree farm (Frosty’s Pines) with his brother, Jerry, which is still in operation.

Jim worked at Union Pacific after college (1973-1987) and finished his career at First National Bank, retiring in 1999.

Throughout his life, Jim was always up for a good time with family and friends, appreciated a variety of good music, and enjoyed traveling the West. Growing up, hunting, fishing, and baseball were a shared pastime with his dad and brothers.

Our family is so grateful to everyone who helped him along his life journey, especially Endless Journey hospice/palliative care, to provide him comfort at the end of his life.
