James Alvin McGhee, Jr. was born on December 1, 1943 in Abbeville, Mississippi to Lillie and James McGhee, Sr. Both preceded him in death. James went to meet his Heavenly Father on October 10, 2017 at home attended by his wife. James was able to spend time with his five children before passing on. James, his parents and sister moved to Omaha when he was four years old. James is a product of the Omaha Public Schools graduating from Omaha Technical High School. James joined Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. Although he would periodically visit other churches he would always go home to New Hope.
James worked in the Housekeeping department at several area hospitals. James loved to travel the country and visit relatives. If someone needed to go somewhere he was ready to go. James loved his family and if anyone needed anything, he was willing to do all he could to help. James is a retired member of the “Ebony Wheels” motorcycle club. He was fondly referred to as “Tin Man.” He was also known for wearing his long black leather coat.
James leaves to mourn his wife Helen James McGhee, three sons all of Omaha, NE Brian Anderson, Robert McGhee and Lance McGhee; two daughters both of Omaha, NE, Janell Thomas and Angela James; one brother from St Louis, Missouri, Reggie Jones; two sisters, Cartrenner Thomas Cotton from Omaha, NE and Barbara Griffin, St Louis, Missouri; Two sister-in-laws, Carolyn Brown, Juanita James, Omaha, NE; three brother-in-laws, Thomas James, Omaha, NE, Melford James, Denver, Co and John James, Jr, Omaha, NE; A host of grand children and great grand children. He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends
James wanted to acknowledge Billy Coleman, Jerry Wynn, Pam Mahoney , Lorane McGhee-Rush and James Wynn as his life long special friends.
