James H. Miller

10/4/1937 - 2/9/2016

James Henry Miller was born October 4, 1937 in Aubrey, Arkansas to Levi Miller and Annie Mae Mitchell Miller. He was the fourth of eight children. He came to Christ and was baptized at an early age at New Star Baptist Church in Arkansas. After moving to Omaha, Nebraska, he joined Morningstar Baptist Church and during that tenure, he served on the usher board. He also joined the Masons.

He was educated in the Arkansas Public Schools. Upon moving to Omaha, Nebraska, he attended night school at Technical High School and worked during the day.

James was a quiet, but energetic man who had a quirky sense of humor. He was loved by his family, friends, and neighbors because he was such a good person, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one. He had an infectious love for life.

James joined in holy matrimony to Elgina Morgan in Omaha, Nebraska on February 20, 1960. To that union, four sons were born. James and Elgina were proud parents who took time to travel across the country with their sons; they encouraged their sons’ interest in school and in sports, especially baseball. Besides their traveling and active participation at church, they enjoyed the simple things in life, including eating out, attending different events, and sharing in family activities.

James leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Elgina Miller; sons Levi Miller of Santa Clara, CA, Edward and Anthony Miller of Omaha, NE; sisters Essie Sims of Denver, CO, Wyomia Miller of Toledo, OH, Jimmie Miller Johnson of Omaha, NE; brother Lacey Miller of Santa Clara, CA; brothers-in-law Rev. Oscar Morgan of Denver, CO, Theodore Morgan of Chicago, IL; sisters-in-law Fletta James of Oklahoma City, OK, Dorothy Williams of Boley, OK; step-brother Norman Smith of Kansas City, MO; step-sisters Veribie Bogard of Omaha, NE, Urlean Leeper of Flint, MI; god-son Lenny Hardin; god-sister Queen Greene; god-daughter Ozella Frazier, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
