Ivan A. Young

A memorial service for Ivan A. Young will be held on July 25th, at Grace Hill Lutheran Church, 18751 Harney St, Elkhorn, NE 68022 with Pastor Brady Betten officiating.

Ivan Alfred Young, 77 years of age, of Omaha, passed away on July 20th, at UNMC. Ivan was born in Holdrege on November 19,1948, born to Gayle and Arline (Schubert) Young. He received his education and graduated from Holdrege Public School, with the class of 1967. Ivan was on the 1967 state basketball team that was later inducted into the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame and he also participated in track and baseball. He pursued his higher education and basketball career at Midland Lutheran College receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. His professional life led him to various financial positions with several Lincoln and Omaha companies.

On August 15 1970, Ivan was united in marriage to Beverly Huetson at the United Methodist Church in Gretna, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two sons: Kristopher and Kim.

Ivan enjoyed following his sons in all their school and sporting activities. He then continued the enjoyment of following his grandchildren to as many of their school, club and sporting activities as he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife: Beverly Young of Omaha; two sons: Kristopher (Susan) Young of Charolette North Carolina and Kim (Bridget) of Omaha, Nebraska. Also, four grandchildren: Peyton (Nick) Svoboda of Chicago, Illinois, Cameron Young of Charleston, South Carolina, Kaitlin Young of Omaha, and Jacob Young, also of Omaha; brother-in-law: Rick (Nancy) Huetson; brother-in-law: Larry (Debra) Huetson; brother-in-law: Randy (Jeff) Huetson; sister-in-law: Andrea (Dave) Mach; sister-in-law: Holly (Jeremiah) Kirby; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Ivan’s wish for cremation.
