Irma Mary Hayes Senteney
Irma was born on March 3,1925 in Decatur, Nebraska to Thomas Leo and Lillian Angeline Hayes and died on July 23, 2024 in Omaha, Nebraska. Irma was married to Robert Senteney on December 11, 1944 by an Army Chaplain in Reno, Nevada. She was a homemaker extraordinaire.... boy, could she clean! Her floors were so clean you could eat off them and so slick it's amazing that her children ever learned to walk. After WWII, when Bob was discharged from the Army Air Corps, they moved to Omaha where Randy was born in 1946, Jackie in 1947 and Debbie in 1955. Bob and Irma spent many years traveling in their camper and many winters in St. George, Utah where they enjoyed golfing, exploring the area and hosting many family members and friends. Irma was a fitness walker, loved to bowl and dance. She was a great "sports Mom & Grandma" and was always available to babysit the grandchildren whom she adored. She loved to play games, especially pinochle and dominoes which she played to the end of her life. She adored her siblings and loved spending time with them. She instilled a love of family in her kids and grandkids. Irma really struggled after Bob died in 2013 and her body gradually weakened to the point that she required assisted living. Covid was an especially hard time for her as she was in lockdown for a year. Almost to her last month she was up for a game of dominoes and lucky enough to have great friends, namely Nancy & Arlie and Betty and Jim who were always willing to play with her.
She was preceded in death by husband Robert, parents Leo and Lil Hayes; siblings Maurice Hayes (Ruby); Lucille Meade (George); Pauline Updike (Melvin); Glen Hayes (Mary Lou); Edythe Svendsen (Clarence); Charles Hayes, Corwin Hayes (Shirlene); and Harold Dean Hayes (Mary Jane); survived by children, Randy Senteney (Karon), Jackie Larsen (Steve), Debbie Laughlin (Bill); grandchildren, Mikala Beig (Kent Campbell), Jill Garton, Amy Hardick (Jeff), Ryan Laughlin (Mary); great grandchildren, Harrison, Jackson, Beryl, Ava, Lauren, Shea, Molly, Hazel, Maggie, Max and Kate; other extended family members and friends. A special thanks to the loving care that the staff at Esprit Whispering Ridge and Suncrest Hospice provided.
