Hilma Jeannine Miller

Hilma Jeannine Miller (Torrens) was born on June 7, 1933 at home on the family farm to Mildred (Hartman) and Robert Torrens in Oakdale, Illinois. Hilma was the second oldest of six siblings. She graduated from Nashville High School in Nashville, IL. She earned her Bachelor's degree in science and math from Southern Illinois University. She married John "Jack" Miller on June 4, 1955. They enjoyed a 64 year marriage which was an example to others of true love and partnership.

Hilma taught middle school and high school for many years before staying home to raise their three daughters. She later worked for the VNA in Omaha for almost 40 years providing in-home health services to veterans and the elderly. She was an accomplished seamstress and gardener. She loved traveling with her family and friends, going to the ocean and mountains, and camping. She drew great strength from her faith and loved spending time with family, neighbors and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (late Jack) Crider, Cynthia (Michael) Loncar, Beverly (Joseph III) Hanson, also survived by six grandchildren, three great grandsons, loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and older brother.
