Herbert W. Parks, April 13, 1939–July 8th, 2024. Herbert (“Herb”) was born in rural Greenwood in 1939 to Don and Grace Parks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Charles and Robert. A 1956 graduate of Ashland-Greenwood High School, he lived and worked on the family farm until taking a job at Western Electric in Omaha in 1959, where he worked until retiring in 2000, along with his wife, Darlene. Herb was a member of the Army National Guard of Nebraska from 1961 until 1967. He was also a member of the Millard American Legion, Post 374. Following retirement, he and his wife enjoyed baseball, golfing (playing by their own rules), traveling, and watching their grandchildren grow before their eyes. Herb is survived by his wife of 47 years, Darlene; son, Derek (Lindsay) Parks of Omaha; four grandchildren, Jackson, Noah, Joshua, and Grace Parks; brother-in-law, James Payne of Albuquerque, NM; special nephews, Jimmie Redden of Springboro, PA and Philip Hellyer of Mesa, AZ.

 Visitation Monday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM with Funeral Service 12:00 PM Monday (7/15/24) at Roeder Mortuary. Interment Ashland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Gretna Fire & Rescue.
