Omaha - Herbert John Heitkamp, 90, of Omaha, NE, passed away on October 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Herbert was born on February 14th, 1934, in Barney, ND and lived a full and vibrant life. He dedicated himself to his family and many friends, leaving a lasting legacy through his kindness and generosity.

Herbert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Marie Heitkamp, and his great-granddaughter, Briar Jean Reich. He is survived by his loving children: Tim Heitkamp, Tammy (Kelly) Kleymann, Therese Collignon, Tom (Mary) Heitkamp, and Tara Heitkamp. Herbert was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 35 great-grandchildren, along with 2 great-great-granddaughters. 

He will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and humor he brought to those around him. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24th, from 5 to 7 PM, with a Vigil Service at 6 PM at Roeder Mortuary. The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, October 25th, at 10:30 AM at St. James Catholic Church, located at 9025 Larimore Ave, Omaha, NE. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.  

A heartfelt thank you to St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional support and care during Herb's final days.  

Memorial donations may be made to the family, with specifics to be designated later.

Visitation Thursday 5 - 7 PM with Vigil Service 6:00 PM at Roeder Mortuary. Funeral Service 10:30 AM Friday (10/25/24) at St. James Catholic Church 9025 Larimore Ave. Omaha, NE. Interment Calvary Cemetery at Omaha, NE.
