Helen Cameron Knight

Helen Cameron (Williams) Knight, 77, peacefully passed away on February 5, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She bravely led an ambitious fight against ALS and has left behind no shortage of loved ones determined to honor her legacy by living out their lives through her example.

Helen was born on July 13, 1945, to Don and Carrie Williams in Fairfield, IA. She graduated from Corning High School in 1963. During her school years, Helen enjoyed cheerleading and was remembered for her playful personality among friends. After two years of attending college at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, MO, she relocated to Omaha, NE, where she met her husband: Philip Knight. Together, they proudly raised their 3 children: Patrick, Sean, and Kerry.

Traveling was a passion for Helen, whether it was family vacations to Colorado or cruises with her friends and children. She enjoyed reading and could often be found relaxing at home with a book in her hands and a dog at her feet. Throughout her lifetime, Helen was also an avid golfer and bowler. She competed in several leagues and tournaments, while capturing a few trophies along the way.

Helen's love for life was always apparent through her sincere smile and infectious laughter. However, in later years, nothing would compare to the absolute joy and pride brought to her through being a grandmother. She cherished any time spent in her grandkids' presence, such as: attending her grandkids' school programs or sports games. Helen was ecstatically always their number one fan, and truly loved them "to the moon and back."

Helen is preceded in death by loving husband Philip; parents: Don and Carrie Williams; brothers-in-law: Vince Knight and Jack Knight; and sister-in-law: Wilma Dougherty.  Survived by son Patrick Knight; son Sean (Angie) Knight; and daughter Kerry Knight; sister Carol (Bob) Cline; grandchildren: Julia, Emily, Jessica, Erica and Jacob Knight; sister-in-law Dottie Knight; and many nieces, nephews, loving friends, and family.
