Guido Salvatore Rindone, age 96, passed away in Lincoln, NE on March 17, 2024, while under hospice care at Fallbrook Assisted Living Center. He was surrounded by his loving family until the end. He was born August 21, 1927, in Omaha, NE, to Rosario and Eurosia Rindone.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty (Murphy) of 72 years, parents, brothers Emilio and Attilio and sons Mark and Joseph. He is survived by his sons Michael (Christine), James, Gregory (Kendy); daughters Maureen (Julian) Dill and Mary (Michael) Norris; brothers Renato (Lyn), Edigio (Pat), and sisters Ann Dredla and Linda (Michael) Ryan. He leaves the legacy of 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Guido was a wonderful and loving father, husband, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and playing basketball with his children and neighborhood kids. He looked forward to packing sweet corn-on-the-cob and Nebraska steaks to take on family trips to Wyoming to visit the Murphy relatives. It always tickled Guido to hear Tom Murphy, his brother-in-law, describe the meal of corn and steak as “…this is powerful good”.
Guido served our country in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947 and was stationed overseas in Korea. During the performance of his duties, he contracted sever frostbite of his arms, legs, hands, and feet along with rheumatic fever and was honorably discharged.
He graduated from the University of Crieghton College of Pharmacy in the early 1950’s. He worked in hospitals and pharmacies throughout the central United States developing and promoting his concepts of Hospital Pharmacy. He taught Hospital Pharmacy at Creighton University from the late 70’s to early 80’s before returning to work in the Pharmacy at Childrens Hospital, in Omaha, from where he eventually retired.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Roeder Mortuary, located at 2727 No. 108th St., Omaha, NE. Visitation begins at 12:00 PM with services beginning at 1:00 PM. Internment will follow at 2:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 7710 West Center Rd., Omaha, NE.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, will please be directed to “Daughters of the Nile Foundation”, benefiting children through the Shriners Hospitals. (www.donfdn.org)
