Husband, Dad, Grandpa - Gordon lived a modest and blessed life. He was born on December 6, 1937, in Harlan, Iowa. During World War II, Gordon’s father was a Defense Department contractor and the family moved to various locations including Tennessee, Nebraska, and Missouri before returning to Iowa. Gordon graduated from Harlan High School in 1955 and went on to earn a degree with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in 1959. He served for six years in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960-1966.
Gordon met the love of his life, Irene, and they were married August 19, 1967. They built their home and raised their 3 boys. Earlier this year, Gordon and Irene celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage. Gordon had a fulfilling career working for United Electric Supply in Omaha as a Purchasing Agent for 57 years, and became the Computer Systems Expert. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed family time, keeping up on politics, bowling, and reading. He took family vacations to Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Alaska, Washington D.C., and the Northeast U.S. In his retirement, he loved cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, taking drives through Chalco to see the eagles and count deer, and many family gatherings.
On November 30, 2025, he died peacefully at The Josie Harper Hospice House. He will be remembered by his loved ones as a dedicated, smart, loving, family man.
