George was born in Millard, NE, the son of George & Mary Bighia. He graduated from Central high school in 1944 followed by the U.S. Army until 1946 during WWII and was a 60 year member of The American Legion Post 1 . After he returned home, George attended the University of Omaha and received his Bachelors degree in Business and Engineering with an Associate Certificate in Real Estate . He began his career as a real estate salesman with insurance and oversaw small home construction. From there George moved to the Property Sale Company and also became self-employed as a consulting engineer and building contractor. Also, during this time he was on the Douglas County Tax Appraisal Board as an appraiser and employed with Federal Housing Administration. In 1969, George started his own business, Real Estate Specialist, Inc. He was the president and owner of appraisal and consulting services for 30 years when he officially retired in 1999. Over his professional career, he had been an active member in the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Appraisal Institute, National Association of Realtors and many other real estate organizations, earning him the MAI, SRA and SREA designations. He was a 60 year 32 degree Mason of Mizpah Lodge No 302 and Scottish Rite.  Also 53 year member of the Tangier Shrine, Cycle Patrol Unit.  George is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Oalga. He is also survived by his one sister MaryAnn of Muskego, WI., two children; Denise Bighia and husband Mitch Holmes of Omaha, NE, and George Bighia of San Diego, CA., one grandchild Rachel Schramm and husband Cody, and two great grandchildren Camden & Madison all of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents and  brother Robert Bighia and brother in law Clifford Carmony.




Visitation Saturday 2-4PM with Masonic Service 4PM at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N 108th Street Omaha, NE. Graveside Service Monday 9AM at Graceland Park Cemetery 42& L St. Memorials to Shrine Hospital for Children.
