Genevieve “Jill” Ramsey
Born June 21st 1938 in Hastings, NE, Mrs. Ramsey received an Associates Degree from Cottey College, a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Masters in Speech Pathology from the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she graduated with Honors. Mrs. Ramsey is a former recipient of the Christa McAuliffe Prize for Courage and Excellence in Education, which she received in 1996.
Mrs. Ramsey’s career in education and speech pathology spanned six decades, including 30 years at the Nebraska School for the Deaf, followed by a role as Director of Outreach for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children for the State of Nebraska. Mrs. Ramsey also served as an adjunct professor of Speech and Education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Mrs. Ramsey’s was involved with several philanthropic organizations. She served as Past Grand Matron with the Order of the Eastern Star, was 60 year member of P.E.O., and served as a volunteer at the Nebraska Humane Society.
Mrs. Ramsey was also a private pilot, and was an avid bicyclist, golfer and competitive swimmer.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years V. Kaye Ramsey, sons Greg and Doug, daughter in law Maria and granddaughter Vania.
