On April 12, 2021, Garry was called to be with the Lord.  Garry was born in Omaha Nebraska November 29th, 1961 to Samuel Varone Haynes and Joyce Jordan-Thompson. He graduated from Omaha Technical High School. His love of family was evident to all. Family members remember his catchphrases, “Hey, Daddie!” or “Love you More”. During his spare time, he enjoyed watching and playing sports. He also participated in the local basketball tournament, Hoop-It-Up. Garry enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends. For several years he volunteered to cook for over 500 people at the Levi Lester Hooks Youth Fishing Tournament. Garry and Jeanette met in 1985 while working together. After realizing they were meant for each other, they married April 24, 2004 giving them over 37 wonderful years together. He dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized on Sunday October 12, 2014. Garry loved his church and the church members. He was instrumental in implementing scriptural reading prior to each sermon at Immanuel Community Church. He often mentioned that one of his favorite scriptures was, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13. This scripture helped him during his health battles and trials. Garry is preceded in death by his grandmother; Bernice Long, his father; Samuel Varone Haynes Sr., and brother; Samuel Varone Haynes Jr. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife; Jeanette Haynes, his mother; Joyce Thompson, step-mother; Patricia Haynes, and his brothers; Anthony Haynes, Timothy Haynes , Eron Haynes , Cager Haynes , Allen Thompson, Albert Thompson , LaTroy Cole, Willie Haynes ; two sisters; Deborah Green and Tracey Mitchell; and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral Service: Noon, Saturday, April 17 th with Visitation 1 hour prior at Immanuel Community Church, 2761 Lake Street, Omaha, Nebraska.
