Florence Wilma Hawes, was born on November 3, 1936 in Davis, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Willie and Reffietta Hyronimus. She attended High School in Hurley, South Dakota and graduated in 1954. She moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she worked at First National Bank where she met her husband, Les Hawes. They were united in marriage on June 17, 1958. From this union, they had 2 daughters, Renee and Lori. They moved to Omaha in 1974.
Florence was a member of Maplewood United Methodist church as well as a member of the Maplewood United women. She loved to sing and was a member of the church choir for 26 years. She loved to travel with her husband Les. She enjoyed bowling, reading, word search and spoiling her grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters Renee Casarez and her husband Michael, Lori Carpenter and her husband Dan. Grandchildren Nicole and Ashley. Great grandchildren, Amiya, Ramel and Jude. Sister Arlene Knudson, sisters-in-law, Ellen Thill and Joyce Hawes, and a host of other family and friends.
Florence’s struggles in life came to an end on April 25th, 2025 at Cedar Creek Memory Care Center and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Les, grandson Michael, parents, sisters, Elberta and Donna, brothers Floyd and Roy.
Visitation 10:00 - 11:00 AM Thursday (4/30/2025) with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at Roeder Mortuary 2727 N. 108th Street Omaha, NE 68164. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha, NE.
