Born on June 16, 1939 to Howard and Edith Winters in Princeton, Kansas. Evan married Karen Yockey on June 26, 1960. Evan is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nina Boyer, brothers John Winters and Dale Winters. Evan is survived by his wife Karen, sons Timothy (Jill) and Douglas (Curtis Jackson-Winters). Three Grandsons, Zachary (Kelsey), great-granddaughter Holland, Justin (Natalie) & Joshua (Rachael) and sister Alma White.

Evan enjoyed spending time and dancing with his wife Karen, time with his sons Tim & Doug, their families and socializing with friends. He loved to sing, hunt, fish and enjoyed many annual trips to the Ozarks with friends. He loved his family, friends and business associates.

Evan loved teaching and passing along the knowledge and skills he had acquired over the years. He hired or trained a great many Real Estate Agents during his career and enjoyed hundreds of past clients. Evan also gave lots of time and effort to community and civic organizations.

Evan served on the Board of Directors for Boy Scouts and was the commander for Iowa Wing of Civil Air Patrol with the rank of Colonel. He served on the Airport Commission for Cedar Rapids, Iowa and he was trained as a pilot in search and rescue along with aerial radiological monitoring. He served as Mission Coordinator for many trainings as well as real search and rescue missions assigned by the United States Air Force and helped investigate many aircraft accidents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Roeder Mortuary. Visitation for family and friends from 5:30-7:00 PM with service starting at 7:00 PM. Memorials to the family for later designation. Services will be livestreamed at www.RoederMortuary.com below his obituary.
