Erma Lee Holmes Brooks

1/2/1946 - 2/8/2016

Erma Lee Holmes Brooks was born on January 2, 1946 in Marks, Mississippi to the union of Robert and Marion Holmes.

She graduated from the Quitman County Industrial High School on May 21, 1964.

After graduation she relocated to East St. Louis, Illinois. Later she moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be with her sister, Doris.

Erma met and fell in love with Mr. Henry A. Brooks in 1965 and the two were later joined in holy matrimony.

Her employers included Purex/The Dial Company, Campbell Soup, Royal Oaks Assisted Living and Omaha Public Schools. She had a strong work ethic and took pride in everything she did. She obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ and became a member sometime during the 1980’s of North Omaha Church of Christ, where she served faithfully until her death.

She enjoyed life and cooking was her passion. “If you came to her house and left hungry, that was no fault of hers.” She was a thrifty shopper and loved a bargain.

Erma leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children: Quentin Brooks of Omaha, NE, Michael Brooks of Minneapolis, MN, Katrina Brooks of Omaha, NE, and Stephen Brooks of Omaha, NE.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Other family survivors include 4 sisters: Doris Wolfe of Omaha, NE, Joyce Doss of Centerville, IL, Ivory Williams of Grandview, MO, and Loretta Holmes of East St. Louis, IL; 2 brothers: Earl Holmes and Charles Holmes both of East St. Louis, IL.

She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation Saturday 9-11 AM at church; Funeral Service 11 AM Saturday at North Omaha Church of Christ 5118 Hartman Ave. Omaha, NE
