Eric Gay Hoefker was born on September 12, 1951, to Gerhard (Gay) and Wanda Ruth (Wilson) Hoefker. He was the first of six children born to this marriage.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents.
Eric is survived by his siblings and their spouses and children: Myra and Steve O’Denius (Wesley, Tim); Laura and David Dwyer (Jonathan); Paul and Jadine Hoefker; Betty and Dan Brousseau (Erik, Mary, Adam, Ryan); and Peggy and Shane Bonacci (Gabriel). He is also survived by many great–nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.
Eric never met a stranger and considered you a friend if you met him. In his earlier years Eric was involved with Martin Luther Homes, Special Olympics and ARC. He enjoyed swimming and traveled to California with the Special Olympics swim team. As he aged, Eric was involved with People First of Nebraska. Eric loved watching and following Nebraska football as a die–hard #GoBigRed fan. He also enjoyed playing baseball and bowling.
Eric enjoyed teasing everyone in good fun, trying to give everyone a smile. (He certainly was able to recognize a good–looking woman when he saw one.) Eric was a dishwasher at various restaurants in the Omaha area. In his later years Eric received care and attended workshops/school through the Hands of Heartland and Loving Homes services.
