Emerson was a farmer in Dover Township, Ohio before joining the army in 1955 to 1957. After his military service he joined the Dover Police force as a patrolman and was promoted to captain in 1962. Emerson then went to work for Superior Dairy where he worked for 32 years before moving to Omaha in 1999 and working for Bakers Supermarket for 17 years. Emerson loved the outdoors and camping, he loved to travel, and he was a handyman all his life.
Emerson was preceded in death by wife Carol ; son Garry; parents Emerson and Flora Dolvan; sister Patricia; and 2 grandsons. He is survived by wife Barbara ; children Gregory , Jeffrey , Mike Herman and Tanya Herman; daughter-in-law Susan; sisters Charlotte Paisley and June Boltz; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
